This week the performance The Path is Made, by Verónica Ruht Frías, took place within the cycle, Vision and Presence, curated by Semíramis González. The action took place on May 25 at half past five. El miércoles participé con Verónica en otra performance. Te voy a mandar las fotos de los cuadros realizados por mujeres que se trabajaron. Nosotras tomábamos la posición de los cuadros. Nos guiaba la acción un cuenco tibetano. La que nos guiaba decía el nombre de las artistas y nosotras íbamos repitiendo el nombre de la pintora como un mantra en el desplazamiento por el museo. Cuando llegábamos al lugar, ella contaba cositas sobre la persona y su obra, y nosotras tomábamos la posición de las figuras del cuadro.

Siempre me sobra cabeza en estos paneles interactivos. ¡Qué les costaba poner una tela! La fotografía la saca Sandra Allo, artista y educadora. THE FUTURE, The photoperformance
On Monday, May 24, 2021, the photoperformance of the artist Asun Requena took place together with her 4 ESO students from the IES Alhama de Corella Institute in Navarra. The action took place in the old deconsecrated church-chapel of the old seminary of Saint Joseph of the Comboni Missionaries, today the institute. The architects were José Luis Arrese and José Manuel Bringas. The first, from Bilbao, married a woman from Corella, and from the two of them the idea of the seminary school was born.
“The first time I entered the building I realized the beauty and plasticity of the space, I immediately discerned the Italian marble and the modernist lines. It was an incredible space, I had to do something there.”

The activity was very well received by management and students. The experience was very enjoyable. One of the objectives is for them to recognize the parts of a scenic montage, in addition to the basic properties of photography that we had studied. For example, the depth of field was one of the topics to be discussed and the deception that its manipulation of the object, and of distances, entails. I chose 4th of ESO because they are in a time of strong educational choices, and they are beginning to decide their future. Future, just, hence the title. A word full of connotations, very typical of the Spanish language, a time not limited.
The action was divided into two parts, the first is what was done with the students, and the second is what the artist will do in the studio that will complement the photoperformance. In it, Asun Requena will represent El Porvenir. Then the infographic creative process will come and the final work will be born.
It was very easy to work with them. The new generations are used to posing, to using their body as a means of expression, and this has been noticed when it comes to the results. Making performance an educational catalyst medium has been a surprising and new experience for them.
As a curiosity, this year, the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts will go to the performer Marina Abramovic.
EL PORVENIR, La fotoperformance
El lunes 24 de mayo de 2021 tuvo lugar la fotoperformance de la artista Asun Requena junto con sus alumnos de 4 ESO del Instituto IES Alhama de Corella en Navarra. La acción se realizó en la antigua iglesia- capilla desacralizada del antiguo seminario de San José de los Combonianos (misioneros), hoy el instituto. Los arquitectos fueron José Luis Arrese y José Manuel Bringas. El primero, bilbaíno, se casó con una mujer de Corella, y de los dos nació la idea del seminario escuela.
“La primera vez que entré al edificio me di cuenta de la belleza y plasticidad del espacio, enseguida discerní los mármoles italianos y las líneas modernistas. Era un espacio increíble, tenía que hacer algo allí”.

La actividad fue muy bien acogida por dirección y alumnado. La experiencia gustó muchísimo. Uno de los objetivos es que ellos reconocieran las partes de un montaje escénico, además de las propiedades básicas de la fotografía que habíamos estudiado. Por ejemplo, la profundidad de campo fue uno de los temas a tratar y el engaño que supone su manipulación en el objeto, y en las distancias. Elegí a 4ª de la ESO porque están en un tiempo de elecciones educativas fuertes, y empiezan a decidir su porvenir. Porvenir, justo, de aquí el título. Una palabra llena de connotaciones, muy propia de la lengua española, una época no limitada.
La acción se dividió en dos partes, la primera es la que se hizo con los alumnos, y la segunda la que hará la artista en el estudio que complementará la fotoperformance. En ella Asun Requena representará El Porvenir. Después vendrá el proceso creativo infográfico y nacerá la obra final.
Fue facilísimo trabajar con ellos. Las nuevas generaciones están acostumbradas a posar, a utilizar su cuerpo como medio de expresión, y eso se ha notado a la hora de los resultados. Hacer de la performance un medio catalizador educativo ha supuesto para ellos una experiencia sorprendente y nueva.
Como curiosidad, este año, el Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Artes será para la performer Marina Abramovic.
